A Study of Thousands of Dropbox Projects Reveals How Successful Teams Collaborate

Summary.   

Researchers anonymized Dropbox data on 500,000 projects involving 400,000 users at 1,000 universities and compared the collaborative dynamics they saw against the reserach performance of those institutions. They uncovered five best practives for effective teamwork on file-sharing platforms:  use small teams, don’t rush projects, increase same-team collaborations, share work equally, and include experienced collaborators.
